Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 August 2026
The Deep Dice is a free dice roguelike playable in a browser and as a mobile app. This
policy explains what the game stores about you, why it stores it, and how to get it erased.
It covers the game at deepdice.gryn.dev and the
iOS and Android apps published under the identifier com.deepdice.game.
1. Who is responsible
The game is made and operated by Dmytro Gryn, an independent developer based in Ukraine, acting as the data controller. For anything in this policy, write to d@gryn.dev.
2. You can play without giving us anything
The game never asks you to register. On first launch it silently creates an anonymous account through Firebase Authentication, and your progress is saved under that account. It holds no name, no email address and nothing that identifies you as a person — only a random identifier.
Signing in with Google or with an email address is optional. It exists for one reason: so that your progress survives a lost device and follows you to a second one. Your identifier stays the same when you do it.
3. What the game stores
| Data | When it appears | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Player identifier | On first launch, always | Ties your saved game to you. A random string issued by Firebase. |
| Sign-in details | Only if you sign in with Google or email | Email address and the sign-in method, held by Firebase Authentication so you can get back into the same account. |
| Display name | Only if you choose one | Signs your rows in the leaderboards. It is public — see section 7. |
| Contact email in settings | Only if you type one in | An optional field you can fill in and clear at any time. |
| Game progress and settings | As you play | Runs, experience, skill tree, achievements, daily challenge results, sound and interface preferences. |
| Account timestamps | Automatically | When the account was created and when it was last seen, so inactive accounts can be recognised and cleared. |
| Recovery key | Mobile apps only | A random key kept in the device keychain so reinstalling the app does not lose an anonymous account. The server keeps only a one-way hash of it, never the key itself. |
| Analytics events | As you play | Which screens you open, how long a session lasts, how a run ended. See section 5. |
| Technical request data | Every request | IP address, browser or app version and timestamps, recorded by the web server for security and troubleshooting. |
There is no advertising in the game, no in-app purchases, and no tracking across other apps or websites. The game does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos.
4. Why we are allowed to store it
- To run the game you asked for — the account, your saved progress, the leaderboards and the daily challenge. Without this data the game has nothing to load.
- Our legitimate interest in keeping the service working and fair: analytics that show which parts of the game people abandon, and server logs that let us find faults and stop abuse.
- Your consent, where local law requires it for analytics. You can withdraw it by writing to us, or by blocking analytics in your browser — the game plays exactly the same either way.
5. Analytics
The game uses Google Analytics 4. The browser reports how you move between screens; the server reports what happened in a run, because a closed tab never gets to report anything itself. Events are labelled with your player identifier, so we can tell one player's session from another's, and are marked as non-personalised — Google is not permitted to use them for advertising. Google retains this data according to the retention period configured on our Analytics property, after which it is deleted automatically.
6. Who else sees your data
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. It reaches only the services that run the game on our behalf:
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Realtime Database) — accounts and
saved games. The database is hosted in the European Union (Belgium,
europe-west1). See the Firebase privacy information. - Google Analytics — the events described in section 5. See Google's privacy policy.
- Our game server at
deepdice.gryn.dev, hosted in Europe. - Apple and Google, when you install the app from their stores. What they collect about that is governed by their own policies, not this one.
Beyond that, we disclose data only if the law obliges us to.
7. Leaderboards are public
If you set a display name, that name appears in the public leaderboards next to your score, visible to every other player and to anyone who opens the game. Nothing else about you is shown there. Choose a name you are willing to have read; you can change it at any time in the game's settings, and the leaderboards follow the change.
8. How long we keep it
- Your account and progress — for as long as the account exists. Delete it and the record goes with it.
- Deletion requests — we keep the request itself, and the email it arrived in, for up to twelve months, as proof that we acted on it.
- Server logs — rotated automatically and never used to build a profile of you.
- Analytics — held by Google for the retention period of our property, then deleted by Google.
9. Security
Traffic between your device and the server is encrypted with HTTPS. Your saved game is written by the server alone — the game running on your device cannot write to the database directly, and database rules enforce that. No system is perfect, and we do not claim ours is.
10. Children
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
11. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with comparable law, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it. Write to d@gryn.dev and we will answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
To erase your account, follow the steps on the account deletion page.
12. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and a material change will be announced in the game before it takes effect. The current version always lives at deepdice.gryn.dev/privacy.
